Dubai v2

May 7th, 2008 Faris

This entry actually should be posted before Madinah Munawarah entry because I went to Dubai first before Madinah, but that’s okay. All photos from Dubai had been transferred to my brother’s laptop since I haven’t got enough space to keep the photos in the camera and I only got them back two days ago. No I wonder why I felt like some of my photos missing, LOL.

By the way, this is my second trip to Dubai. The first one was in May last year. The weather was quite nice this time compared to my previous trip. Probably because it is not summer yet so, the temperature was not that high. If it is summer, you may want to consider to being in the building rather than walking outside under the sunlight. I still remember when I was in Dubai last year the weather was like bloody hot!! I could not even stand outside for more than 15 minutes otherwise, my skin would be burn.

Although I have been to Dubai twice, does not mean I have discovered everything. I did not do what tourists normally do like going to the specific places. No particular reason but if I still have opportunity to go again, I would love to go for Desert Safari. It looks amazing in my friend’s photos. He went there couple of weeks ago and when I saw he was on the desert I was like, what??? Can’t believe I haven’t done that!! To be honest, I spent lots of my time at the Mall of Emirates which is the biggest shopping complex in Dubai so far. It is approximately 10 minutes walk from my accommodation.

After 2 days stay then I flew to Jeddah. From Jeddah I took a taxi to Madinah which cost me 500 Riyals, equals to RM500 or £80.65, and it was 3 or 4 hours journey. I was really exhausted by the time I got into the hotel. Anyway, Dubai is still as same as last year. The constructions never stop. One thing I noticed, the Burj Al Dubai, the tallest building in the making is nearly completed now.

Well, hope you enjoy your stay. I am trying my best to keep blogging if not everyday, at least once every 2 or 3 days. Just need something to keep me motivated. Need to produce more great photographs. Hopefully this spring and coming summer will be fantastic season for photography.

Thanks very much. Cheers.

Madinah Munawarah

April 23rd, 2008 Faris

My journey this time was completely different from my previous journey. I was in Madinah for 2 days before heading to Makkah for pilgrimage (umrah). I could feel the heat as I stepped out from the plane at the Jeddah airport. It reminds me of Malaysia’s weather.

To be honest, my brain is not working at the moment. I tried to squeeze so that I could write more but unfortunately, it didn’t work. So, the only way to tell you a bit of my story in Madinah is by showing you a few photos taken while I was there. One thing for sure, I was amazed when I saw Masjid Nabawi (Mosque of the prophet Muhammad S.A.W) for the first time. Never had in my thought even a second I would be here standing in front of it and see it for myself. I wish I could get better angle of Masjid Nabawi but didn’t have enough time to discover the place.

This shot was taken from the window of my hotel’s room on the 9th floor if not mistaken. It was early in the morning and I was ready to go for breakfast. Less busy in the morning but it gets busier and noisier later on.

Masjid Nabawi, also known as the prophet Muhammad S.A.W mosque.

The shot of Iranian women above was taken spontaneously. I didn’t realize they were passing by until I turned around and quickly adjusted my lens to the widest focal length and snap.

A group of people were given instructions during their visit.

Fancy one?

Wearing blacks and fully covered is their main attire.

The rate of exchange was quite good when I was there. £1 equals to 7.2 Riyal if not mistaken.

I bet this man was indecisive which one to get for his wife.

Those are a few photos I captured while I was in Madinah. Hopefully you enjoyed your stay while reading and viewing photos. I shall return with a few more photos I captured in Makkah in the next entry. So, stay tuned.

Thanks very much for your stay. Cheers.

Spain - Chapter 3 (Alhambra)

January 15th, 2008 Faris

The last chapter from my trip to Spain last December. I have nothing to write actually. Let the pictures tell the story. So sorry for being so late to post the photos. I know I should have posted long time before. Anyway, it was an amazing trip for me. Never thought in my life I would plan a trip to Spain. Alhambra was the last place I visited after Malaga, Cordoba and Gibraltar. Save last for the best, hehe. So, here are a few photos taken in Alhambra. Hope you enjoy it.

I have loads of photos actually after got home from Spain but I deleted half of it. Basically, there were a few same photos which I only needed one. Of course I did a selection first before deleting. Took me hours to select which one to keep or delete to make sure I didn’t delete the one that I wanted. I prefer less but wonderful photos to look at rather than thousands of photos but only junk. At least, it doesn’t waste my hard drive space!

Fortunately, I have my brother to cover all my photos, hahaha. Thank you bro. Much appreciated.

Thank you very much for spending your time here viewing those photos. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Spain - Chapter 1 (Malaga)

December 29th, 2007 Faris

Wallaaaaa!!! Here I am with Spain entry as I promised. I’m not sure what had happened but I am be a bit confused with my writings lately. Feel like I’ve been writing nonsense. My brain is not functioning well. Oh bloody hell, I just started writing and the clock is already 12 am in the morning??? What the toot? Am I going to sleep or stay in front of my computer continue with this entry? I’m working tomorrow! I can’t stay up too late otherwise, I will be sleeping at work which I’m already used to it! LOL just kidding! Okay let’s stop mumbling and shall we continue with Spain trip? Alright then.

In the first place, I want to thank God for giving me lots of opportunities to fulfill my little dreams. I never thought I would have capability to go travel abroad. Never in my head ever imagine to plan a trip to such a fabulous countries and yet so far, I have been to Abu Dhabi (my first ever middle east country I visited), Dubai, then followed by Italy and the latest is Spain. It’s like a dream when all these things happen. God bless me with such a wonderful life and I am so grateful for that. Thank you God.

By the way, I booked the ticket to Spain about a month in advance if not mistaken. So, the ticket was quite cheap and it was a good deal though. That’s one I thing I like being here. You get a chance to fly to any european countries with budget flight. So, don’t need to worry much about it as long as you plan your trip earlier. Can’t believe I’m running out of ideas. Think I have nothing to write anymore. Duhhh I’m so pathethic.

Malaga from the top. Approaching Malaga airport.

On the way to Marbella.

It was windy and about to rain when we got here.

By the way, the story at the airport… after picking up our bags and stuff, we went straight to car rental and hired Zafira. The car was nice but it could cause a little bit of problem when the driver seat is on left hand side. Because I was the ONLY hope, so I had to drive hahaha. Just kidding. Luckily, we’ve got Joe who’s already used to it so we put a trust on him to take the F1 seat. Nevertheless, we rotated regularly along the way whenever each of us is drowsy or tired. The trickiest part was when we’re at a roundabout or junction. I regularly tend to go on the other way around which is against the road. So, need to think and put extra focus while driving. So tiring but fun. Malaga itself is a beautiful place. Quite similar to Italy but the mountains in Spain are absolutely incredible. I’ll story that in the next chapter later on. Stayed at Playa Andalucia hotel which is in Marbella (the pronounciation is Marbeyya if not mistaken). Such a wonderful accomodation I tell you!

spainpart04.jpg

This is the view from my room. If you notice, there’s a beach over there on the right corner of this picture. So you have got the view and the sound of waves and wind from the beach as well. You can see the pool is empty because we went there during winter season. Just imagine how’s the pool like during summer. Surely there will be loads of people and the rooms are also fully booked as well. So, I think it can be considered to go travel or have vacation during winter season because there will be less busy and people around.

Okay I guess I’ll be stopping here for now. Too lazy to continue. This is just the beginning. I’ll be continuing next chapters on my next entry ya.

Thanks a lot for coming and reading. Till then.

P.S : I will upload my full travel photos on my website. Will inform later once its ready.

Love,

Faris
